The primary roles and responsibilities for this position are effective operation of kilns by monitoring, assessing, and controlling temperature profiles displayed on a computer terminal. Responsible for maintaining documentation and recording data daily to meet compliance standards.
Daily Oversight And Responsibilities
Monitor and observe kiln operations to include measuring temperatures and fluctuations to maintain efficient processing.
Set daily parameters for kilns to complete process within assigned deadlines. Must be able to prioritize to ensure timely completion.
Must be able to operate control room terminal.
Create daily documentation for kiln and stack data reporting in accordance with compliance requirements.
Keep clean and organized working space.
May be required to conduct tie assessment at locations within a 200-mile radius to complete reporting and analysis for input of daily tie detail on an as needed basis.
Provide backup assistance to the Processing Operator as needed.
Perform other assigned tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required by The Position
Associate degree preferred but not required or a High school diploma or GED is required.
Must have 2-3 years of manufacturing experience or related transferable skills preferably in carbon, charcoal, biochar or chemical industry.
Moderate computer software skills to run equipment, problem solve issues, prepare system updates, and understand processing requirements for effective production.
Attention to detail, ability to problem solve and trouble shoot problems with an ability to understand and effectively run computer software.
Experience operating control room terminals.
Ability to adapt, change and redirect focus on a daily basis based upon daily requirements for processing to meet deadlines.
Exposure with RTS or strategy computer games a plus.
Safety Responsibilities
Safety protocols are extremely important to follow.
Follow all safety training and procedures displaying clear understanding through demonstration of safe work practices.
Refer to and comply with instructions, requests, orders, and information posted within bulletins, memorandums, rules and regulatory guidance/manuals.
Must be able to complete and pass requirements for background check and drug screening.
Ability to obtain eRailSafe badge approval required.
Travel required as needed to complete reporting and analysis at designated job sites.
Supervisory Controls
This position reports to the Superintendent and is expected to operate under moderate supervisory involvement, depending on the task and the incumbent’s knowledge and ability to complete the task. All other staff remain available for information, advice, guidance, or assistance if needed and may provide training, coaching, and feedback as appropriate. This position supervises up to 0 employees depending on managerial needs.
